STAYING ACTIVE IN THE WINTER

Posted

Winter is not just cold cold cold, it marks the end of something and it starts a whole different season! We're all so busy all the time, so we should embrace the winter time to step back a little and revisit our inner selves. Let’s see the winter as a time for inspiration and innovation in our daily routines. Here’s the best ways to stay active this winter season:

PLAY.

Playing is the best cardio session EVER. What makes it the best? That it does not feel like a cardio session, period. Per hour you can burn 214 calories by making snow angels, or 320 by having a snowball fight, or as much as 285 by making a snowman! So seriously… what are you waiting for?!?

SKI SKI SKI.

If you are competitive or really feel like being stationary is not your thing, then just go and practice the fastest, greatest, and most fun sport out there.

WORKOUT AT HOME.

It is cold out, so why go out to get to the gym? Just stay warm and cozy while you workout at home and have the tv and hot chocolate waiting for you as a reward.

OR OUT!

Did you know that running in cold weather is actually better than in warm weather? There is less heat stress in your body. There’s a reason why most marathons are held in October or November.

SWIM.

What’s better than swimming in the middle of winter? Nothing. Trust me, after you go for a few laps in a pool with the perfect temperature (in a community centre or a gym, of course) and then you go outside right after, that right there is the best feeling in the world.

BE EXCITED.

Let’s face it, there are things you would never do if winter didn’t pretty much force you to do. Like spending a loooot of time with your family playing board games. Or finally catching up to thrilling ending of your favorite TV show. So let’s embrace the season instead of making it stop us from being active!
